The Incredible Veggie Roadshow in Cambridge

The Incredible Veggie Roadshow in CambridgeAs we’re not very far from Cambridge we decided to pay a visit to the Incredible Veggie Roadshow taking place there on Saturday. Although it wasn’t as big as the West Midlands Vegan Festival we went to in October, it started off a lot less crowded, so I actually enjoyed it more as we could get a proper look at all the stalls.

There were plenty of free samples available, which was fantastic, not only because we got to try all sorts of yummy new products, but also because it stopped my kids from getting bored while we were looking around at the various stalls!

I tried a few of the Goodlife products that I hadn’t tasted before and was especially impressed by the Spinach and Lentil grills, so will definitely be getting a few of those in next time I’m grocery shopping.

My boys were more interested in sampling the vegan cakes (again!) and various veggie sweets available of course. There was some gorgeous Turkish delight which we tried and one of my sons promptly spent all of his week’s pocket money on a bag of it. Goody Good Stuff also had a stall with a selection of their yummy sweets for sampling. The fact that we have a house full of these didn’t seem to deter my boys from trying them out there too…

I also ran into someone I knew as she was running a stall selling her gorgeous Purple Cobwebs jewellery to raise money for Viva! She was conveniently situated opposite the Turkish delight stall so I got to chat to her for a bit while husband and children were taste testing :-) .

There were a few cookery and nutrition demos going on which I would’ve liked to watch, but sadly the rest of the family were ready to move on by this time. As always I came away with an armful of literature, recipes and pamphlets (as seen in pic) which I am determined to find time to look through at some point…

The verdict: An enjoyable day out with enough to keep the kids amused for a while. It may not be worth a very long journey, as you only need a few hours to check it all out, but if you live nearby or have other plans in the area then I’d definitely recommend it. I’m sure we’ll pop along next time again.
