We recently had the good fortune to taste test some of Happy Kitchen’s vegan brownies and I thought I’d share my thoughts with you.
The Happy Kitchen aims to make food that is, in their own words, simple, natural and honest. Their brownie bars are not only vegan but also gluten free and don’t contain any refined sugar as they are sweetened with fruit extracts.
Their brownies come in chocolate, choc orange, raspberry and pecan nut varieties. Each brownie only has 7-8 ingredients, which is a refreshing change from the long lists of chemicals found on most pre-packed treats.
We tried the plain chocolate and choc orange flavours, both of which were mouth-wateringly delicious. They have a denser, more solid texture than the baked brownies we are used to and reminded me more of a chocolate fridge cake, but this wasn’t at all a problem for me and I preferred them that way. Both flavours were very moist and so rich that even half of the 55g bar would have been fine (though of course I ate it all!) They were gorgeous with a cup of tea in the afternoon.
They would also make great lunchbox treats for kids (and of course for you) and I’m planning to stash a few in my handbag for emergencies
.
Happy Kitchen Vegan Brownies are available at Goodness Direct and retail at £1.49 per 55g brownie bar. We liked them so much we’ve also decided to start including them in our Vegan Gift Boxes.
