Half term holidays

Brighton PierYou may have noticed that I didn’t post at all on the blog last week, but I do have an excuse. My in-laws moved nearby Hastings recently and we made the most of half term to visit them as well as some of the nearby countryside and towns. The weather was kinder to us than we expected, with only a few droplets of rain to contend with.

We spent some time in Lewes (which was very close to where I will be walking 100km shortly for Trailwalker – there are some very sobering hills there…) and a lot of time in Brighton, where we almost ended up on TV when walking past the anti monarchy protestors over the Jubilee weekend!

Brighton was fantastically vegetarian friendly so we took the opportunity to test out a few eating establishments and did some shopping for new products to try out. You can expect to see a few of these reviewed over the next while, including Infinity Foods and Iydea, as soon as I get a few spare moments again. (Is it just me or does it take even more time to catch up with work, laundry, etc afterwards than the amount of time actually spent on holiday?)

It was a very relaxing and fun week and reminded me again that holidaying in the UK is just as enjoyable as (if not more so than) going abroad, and a lot less expensive. We plan to do a lot more of these types of short breaks over the summer holidays and so will hopefully get to report back on how veggie friendly plenty of other areas are too. With any luck the weather might improve too and we’ll get to do a bit of camping – our favourite way to unwind with the kids!

But for now it’s back to school for our boys and back to the grindstone for us… hope you enjoyed your half term break as much as we did!
